Applying for work
Now that you have completed training, received your DBS in the post, and completed the relevant safer recruitment checks, you are able to access assignments on the Tutor Hub, where you will also be able to apply for, and keep track of, tuition assignments.
The number of available assignments varies depending on the time of year and demand from schools/colleges. We cannot guarantee tutors a particular number of hours of work at any given time.
Tutors should never take it upon themselves to organise tuition directly with the school/college. You should always request that the school/college staff to speak to the appropriate Tutor Trust Programme Coordinator when they enquire about additional tuition. It would always be Tutor Trust’s intention to fulfil the school/college’s requirements from its resources where possible.
If you have undertaken any extra work and Tutor Trust has not been informed, you will not be paid for the additional amount until it has been verified.
Remember
Applying for assignments
It is your responsibility to apply for the assignments you are interested in. Please check all the details of an assignment carefully before applying. This includes:
- Where tuition takes place (in school/at home/online), and whether travel is viable for you
- The start date (note: this is a guide and is subject to change)
- How long the assignment lasts
- The day(s) and times of the week it is to take place
- Additional information or notes regarding the assignment
- Your rate of pay
Please only apply for assignments that you are interested in and able to commit to. To support a successful application, please include as much information as you can in your application notes. This can include any personal connection to the area/school, detailed availability, any dates that you may be unavailable, additional assignments that you currently work. By applying for an assignment, you confirm that you agree to all the assignment details and have the physical and mental capacity to carry out the role. If you apply for assignments and then pull out, this risks damaging relationships with schools and may affect your success rate in future applications.
Once you have bid for an assignment, a coordinator will be in touch to accept or decline your application. You can keep track of your bids using the hub. Please do not go to the school/college until you have received confirmation and additional information directly from a Coordinator.
