Beyond Core Training

At Tutor Trust, we're passionate about learning and development so have continuous opportunities for you throughout the year.

What other learning opportunities are there?

We answer some of your most common questions below!

Training for qualified teachers

Module 1. About us

An online module detailing the context of what we do, who we work with, and why

Module 2. Safeguarding

An online short course to get you ready to go into the classroom

Module 3. Submitting a lesson plan

Show us a flair for your teaching style through a lesson planning task. Our team of teachers will review your plan and if all is well, you'll be able to apply for your first tutoring assignment!

Off you go!

I liked the face to face meet up in Liverpool - it was nice to meet other tutors and learn something new!"

Further learning opportunities

Whether it's a recap of tutoring essentials such as fostering positive relationships, a deep dive into a specialised topic such as Special Education Needs (SEND), or using AI in tuition, we've got you covered.

Further to our Core Training are a host of regular virtual and in-person events to help boost your knowledge and professional skills.

What else do we offer?

Engagement Events

care

A mixture of online and in-person events led by our Tutor Engagement and Support Manager. They are great informal opportunities to chat to other tutors and become part of our community. These include, but are not limited to: Coffee and Chat, Paint and Sip, Welcome Events and our annual Tutor Awards.

Drop-Ins

empower

Drop-ins are an opportunity to meet with other tutors and Tutor Trust staff to discuss current and upcoming assignments, share good practice and get advice, in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. These events include but are not limited to: phonics & reading, online tutoring, Tutoring Plus and post-16 tuition.

Development Sessions

Led by our experienced team of Quality Managers and trainers, sometimes in partnership with other organisations (e.g. Place2Be, TeachFirst, The University of Manchester). They are designed to develop your skills and give you new strategies to use in your tuition sessions. These events include but are not limited to: coaching & mentoring, AI for tutoring, behaviour for learning, and GCSE and SATs revision sessions.

Transfer Training

Initially, all tutors are trained to specialise in one subject. However, we recognise that many of our tutors have the necessary qualifications to deliver multiple subjects. As a result, we provide opportunities throughout the year for tutors with the necessary qualifications to complete Transfer Training. This training allows tutors to provide tuition across multiple subjects and/or age ranges.
