Before you can head into the classroom and start tutoring, we need to collect a minimum of two robust, objective references.
As an educational charity, we must strictly adhere to UK statutory guidance to safeguard all children and young people. Because of this, our reference checks are thorough and non-negotiable. Please read these instructions carefully, as we cannot progress your application if the wrong details are provided.
We require a minimum of two references, which will be requested before you begin tutoring. These must speak to your personal qualities, integrity and suitability for working with young people.
Character reference: This could be an employer, academic teacher or tutor, community group leader, sports coach, religious leader or youth worker. This can not be a friend or relative.
Professional reference: From an employer or academic contact (such as a teacher or university tutor). If you've previously worked or volunteered with children or young people in any capacity, we'll need your professional reference to come from that role.
If you have any questions about references, please email us at recruitment@thetutortrust.org and we'll be happy to help.
