Tutor Support Pathway
The Tutor Support Pathway, (or TSP), is our support package for tutors who may not yet be meeting our expectations when it comes to the delivery of high-quality tuition.
After being observed by a Quality Manager, tutors receive feedback and a lesson observation grade. If this grade requires improvement or working towards good, the Training and Coaching Quality Manager will get in touch to arrange a remote video call.
What is coaching?
Coaching is a one-to-one process that helps individuals think through their options concerning various situations they may be facing. Coaching is about:
- maximising your potential
- opening up possibilities
- and increasing personal choice.
It is about solutions, not problems, and is focused on you moving from where you are to where you want to be and helping you find the resources necessary to get there.
Coaching is not about experience, wise counsel or advice. You'll get that through our peer mentoring scheme. Instead, coaching is about helping you to learn and grow to be the hero of the story that you want to live, not the story that other people want you to live.
How does it work?
Support takes place over a period of between two to six sessions over several weeks. These sessions are one-to-one, giving you the safety and time to try different strategies out and discover what works for you when it comes to delivering high-quality tuition.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to education. We're here to help you improve and reach our expected standard. So, it's important that you engage with the support that we offer. For this reason, whilst you are on the TSP, you cannot take on any new assignments. Once you feel confident that your tutoring reaches our standard, a member of the quality team will come and re-observe you to assess your progress.
When you are observed as good, or even outstanding, you'll be able to bid for new assignments again. We're all on the same team, working together to provide top-notch tuition. Many of our successful tutors have been on the TSP in the past and have referenced the support that they received, and the process of reflection and development being key to their success.
