Sickness and Absence

Notice arrangements

It is vital that tutors fulfil their assignments wherever possible and are supported to do so: the pupils’ interests are best served by consistency in the provision of tutoring. As with other aspects of their education, your co-operation – and ours – in this area is important to pupils’ success. Once you have made a commitment to work with a pupil or a group of pupils, you will be expected to fulfil this obligation.

Sickness and absence procedure

In the event of you suffering from an illness or injury that results in your inability to perform your tuition duties, you must inform Tutor Trust as soon as possible.

If you are unable to attend a tuition session (either face-to-face or online) because of sickness, you must inform the school/college and Tutor Trust as soon as possible before the tuition session is scheduled to take place, following the procedure below:

  • In the first instance, please call your school/college. Please refer to the notes from the Introductory Meeting for the school's/college’s contact preferences and the procedure they have set for absences.
  • After speaking to the school/college, contact the Tutor Trust Programme Coordinator for the assignment by email.
