Use of technology

You are reminded to exercise extreme caution when using technology in relation to your work for Tutor Trust. This relates, but is not exclusive, to the following:

  • Always have your mobile phone turned off when in a school/college.
  • Always follow the school/college policies where you are carrying out tuition in relation to use of technology.
  • Never give your email address or phone number to a pupil.
  • Never engage with your pupils via social networking sites (if you wish to discuss something with regards to social networking and a pupil, please contact Tutor Trust or your point of contact at the school/college. Never communicate directly with the pupil online).
  • Never take photographs within a school/college.
  • Never write anything disparaging about a child, school, college or colleague online. This includes all types of social media including closed groups e.g., WhatsApp, Facebook. To do so would be unprofessional conduct and may result in reputational damage to Tutor Trust. Please refer to the Social Media Code of Conduct.
  • If you have obtained permission to use your laptop/iPad/tablet for a lesson, be careful about what data students can see/access and if Wi-Fi and/or any notifications are turned on.

The school/college in which you are working – or working with – may hold useful resources such as laptops/iPads/tablets etc that could be used in your tuition.

Remember

If you would like to use your personal possessions (e.g., laptops, iPads) for lessons, please check first with your Coordinator and the school/college if they are happy with this. Be extremely careful as these items are not covered by Tutor Trust insurance. If you are willing to use these items, we would recommend you check they are covered under your own household insurance policy.
